Appraisal Inspection

A practical first step before committing to a full survey. Helps to identify major issues and guides you in deciding if a yacht or motorboat is worth investigating further.

Overview

What is an Appraisal Inspection?

An appraisal inspection is a walk-through assessment, less detailed than a full condition survey. It is particularly useful if you are still deciding which yacht or motorboat to buy, or if there are several similar vessels on the market and you want to narrow down your options before committing to a full survey. It is also a practical option if you are unable to visit the vessel yourself, whether due to distance, difficult access, or visa restrictions.

The inspection can be carried out afloat or ashore, helping to identify any major issues and gives a general overview of the yacht or motorboat's condition. Joe can provide a clear written summary with photographs, so you can make an informed decision before travelling to see the vessel. If it proves suitable, a full condition survey is recommended before purchase and will be carried out at a reduced cost.

For yachts or motorboats up to around 12 metres, the inspection is typically completed within two to three hours. Larger vessels are usually finished within a day.
