Damage Survey
Something has gone wrong with your yacht or motorboat. Here is how to document it properly.
What is a Damage Survey?
A damage survey is carried out following an incident that has caused damage to a yacht or motorboat. The survey identifies the full extent of the damage, provides recommendations and options for repair, and gives a guide to the costs involved. It covers damaged areas only and does not extend to a general inspection of the vessel.
Joe is appointed by both yacht owners and insurance companies. Where an insurer has been notified of a claim, Joe reports the facts of the incident, the damage, repair options and costs.
Damage surveys are sometimes required at short notice to prevent further damage. In these cases surveys are charged on an hourly basis rather than by quotation. Depending on location, Joe can usually attend within 24 to 48 hours of being contacted.
Following the survey, Joe can also oversee and report on the repair process if required.
