Full Condition Survey

Committing to a purchase without a survey is a risk most buyers regret.

Overview

What is a Full Condition Survey?

A full condition survey is a thorough, independent inspection of a yacht or motorboat before purchase. It covers the hull, structure, mechanical systems, safety equipment, and deck fittings, everything that affects the vessel's condition and value.

The survey is carried out in two parts. An in-water inspection covers equipment testing, engine performance and rig inspection for sailing yachts. The out of water inspection covers the hull, propulsion, stern gear and keel.

The survey gives you the information you need to make a confident purchasing decision or walk away if necessary.

Joe provides a comprehensive written report with photographs if required, and prioritised recommendations within 10 working days of the inspection. In most cases sooner.

Independent & Impartial

Joe works independently with no affiliations to brokers, sellers, or boatyards. Your interests are the only priority.

Comprehensive documentation of all findings, typically 15-25 pages depending on vessel size.

Photographs of finding

High-resolution images documenting the condition of all inspected areas and any defects found, available on request.

Clear priorities - what's urgent, what can wait

Clear categorization of issues by urgency: safety critical, important, and advisory items.

Ongoing maintenance notes

Recommendations for ongoing maintenance to preserve the vessel's condition and value.

The Process

How It Works

From initial enquiry to final report - here is what to expect.

Initial Enquiry

Get in touch with details about the yacht or motorboat. Joe will come back to you promptly with a competitive quote and confirm suitability.

Arrangements

Joe coordinates with the relevant parties to arrange a convenient survey date. If a lift-out is required, this is organised directly with the boatyard by the owner or broker.

The Survey

A thorough inspection is conducted, typically taking 1 to 2 days or more, depending on the size and complexity of the vessel. You're welcome to attend.

Sea Trial

When conditions and circumstances permit, a sea trial is conducted to evaluate the yacht's machinery and systems.

Report Delivery

Within 10 working days, you'll receive your comprehensive written report with photographs (if required) and prioritized recommendations.
